Difficulty Update
Howdy everyone!
After our recent downtime of unwinding the stresses of the jam and all those constraints as well as extensive feedback and playtesting from our friends, we decided to roll out a small difficulty update to make the game easier.
The level concept that we made is meant to serve as a tutorial-sort of level that incorporates our basic ideas for what Light the Midnight should be. Some of the feedback we have gotten on initial release was that our game was too hard! This update slows the speeds of some of the enemies and provides some balancing and small fixes.
So, what's next for Light the Midnight?
We love our concept for this game and are happy with the ideas we have come up with so far. That being said, we do have plans to continue development for Light the Midnight, albeit at a slow steady pace right now. Our team consists entirely of college students, and with Covid-19 and our semesters going on, Light the Midnight currently sits as a backlog project right now. That's not to say that we have abandoned the project. We are very excited about this game and are constantly thinking of how to improve it and some ideas that we want to try out. Once our schedules begin to clear again, we will start implementing some of those plans and ideas.
As the game stands, it is playable but incredibly buggy. (It was made in 2 weeks after all) Our first priority before any major updates would be to rewrite a lot of what we have so far and clean everything up. The project file in Unity is kind of a mess and adding new things and tweaking existing things will be a lot easier once we set everything up in a more accessible way.
We've got a long road ahead of us but we believe this game has potential. It is a labor of love and we are not abandoning it any time soon.
